I did a year of volunteer work in Morocco, I had an amazing time teaching English and Dutch classes. I helped with various local projects and learned a lot about the culture. I learned the Moroccan and Arabic languages and I’m still learning every day. My experience in Morocco made me fell in love with volunteer work even more.
During my stay in Morocco, the Corona virus took a hit in Morocco. While being in quarantine me and my best friend wanted to do something. We talked a lot and we came to the conclusion that we wanted to do more and that we wanted to start something ourselves. We wanted to help other people and start our own projects. We created Hoyam and after a long time of working in silence we could finally start our own projects.
Every year I join the four day marches in the Netherlands. I walked the marches 3 times myself and after this I started helping the people who walked. It’s an amazing event and every year it is an amazing experience. I walk with a big group named Ik Wil Opvallen and we try to get attention for the charity FieldworkFoundation. I love doing things for charity, but this is by far my favorite thing every year.
